ARTIFICIAL LIGHT

Only seeing the surface of things

never journeying beyond.

She thrived in the pain and pushed for more stimulus

marvelled in the victim, deepened in to the shadow of itself.

I could consume you...

She watched me back,

the shadow self tripped me up and contradicted herself.

Treading the boundary between hunted and hunter.

Shifting from soft movements to the mechanical.

I'll hold you at arms length,

afraid to show you who I really am,

I'd hurt you purposely to get a thrill from the pain and

romanticise my own misery.

Am I interesting now? I fear I'm not enough underneath it all.

Everything I hated in you was in me

and it lay there in the shadow, the ability to fray.
